چکیده

Synopsis We compute the higher-order statistics of the 3D spin displacement probability distributions measured with mean apparent propagator (MAP) MRI and quantify microstructural tissue parameters such as the mean kurtosis (MK), axial kurtosis (K ), radial kurtosis (K ) and kurtosis fractional anisotropy (FA ). This extension of the family of MAP tissue parameters provides a direct link between the frameworks of MAP MRI and other advanced di៛usion techniques facilitating interpretation of ៯ndings in clinical MAP MRI studies in the context of existing literature on advanced di៛usion MRI applications.

Evaluation of dose delivery accuracy of Gamma Knife by polymer gel dosimetry

The BANG polymer gel dosimeter was used to evaluate 3D absorbed dose distributions in tissue delivered with Gamma Knife stereotactic radiosurgery systems. We compared dose distributions calculated with Leksell GammaPlan (LGP) treatment-planning software with dose distributions measured with the polymer gel dosimeter for single-shot irradiations. Head-sized spherical glass vessels filled with th...

Mean apparent propagator (MAP) MRI: A novel diffusion imaging method for mapping tissue microstructure

Diffusion-weighted magnetic resonance (MR) signals reflect information about underlying tissue microstructure and cytoarchitecture. We propose a quantitative, efficient, and robust mathematical and physical framework for representing diffusion-weighted MR imaging (MRI) data obtained in "q-space," and the corresponding "mean apparent propagator (MAP)" describing molecular displacements in "r-spa...

3D MRI gel dosimetry based on image intensity (A new approach)

Background: Since 1984 MRI gel dosimetry has been introduced as a potential technique for 3D dosimetry. Most of the studies have measured R1 (1/T1) or R2 (1/T2) properties of the gel depending on the gel type. We have studied image intensity change in the Fricke gel by different MRI protocols. Materials and Methods: Gel Dosimeters contain 0.4 mM ferrous sulphate, 1 mM NaCl, 50 mM H2SO4 and 1% b...

Verifying the accuracy of dose distribution in Gamma Knife unit in presence of inhomogeneities using PAGAT polymer gel dosimeter and MC simulation

Background: Polymer gel dosimetry is still the only dosimetry method for direct measuring of threedimensional dose distributions. MRI Polymer gel dosimeters are tissue equivalent and can act as a phantom material. In this study the obtained isodose maps with PAGAT polymer gel dosimeter were compared to those calculated with EGSnrs for singleshot irradiations of 8 and 18 mm collimators of...

Assessment of the Characteristics of MRI Coils in Terms of RF Non-Homogeneity Using Routine Spin Echo Sequences

Introduction: One of the major causes of image non-uniformity in MRI is due to the existence of  non-homogeneity in RF receive and transmit. This can be the most effective source of error in  quantitative  studies  in  MRI  imaging.  Part  of  this  non-homogeneity  demonstrates  the  characteristics of RF coil and part of it is due to the interaction of RF field with the material being  imaged...
